Confluence Overlook
Last weekend I headed down to Moab and Monticello to get some hiking in while the weather was good. I hiked Delicate Arch and also managed to make it to the Confluence Overlook in Canyonlands. The days were great, the nights not so great. I slept in the back of my car while parked on our property near Monticello and nearly froze to death. The windows inside were covered with a thick frost by morning time and despite 8 blankets and sleeping bags I still couldn't get comfortable. I did get out and walk around the property Evan and I recently purchased-it's still there. During the short time I was out there I saw a total of close to 30 deer just hanging out in the fields nearby.

Thanksgiving Westwater

Daniel and I made it down for the traditional Thanksgiving Westwater; too bad Evan couldn't have been there. The day turned out great and we had a fun group. Paul Newton and a few buddies were kayaking and Travis and Melissa Pearce brought their 16' raft. The water was flowing pretty decent at 3800 cfs and Sock-It-To-Me was pumping. Paul kept reminding me that someone on his trip 2 weeks ago had flipped a raft in it and we almost joined them. That rapid stood us straight up and surfed us for what seemed like an eternity - probably a few seconds at most. Nothing better than a day on the river followed by a greasy burger at Ray's.
